Setting up your EBICS access
Setting up your EBICS access

Here we explain how to request EBICS access from your bank so that your bank transactions flow into Accounto on a daily basis.

Updated over a year ago

The EBICS protocol allows Accounto to retrieve the history of your bank transactions on a daily basis. The transactions are then automatically reconciled with the existing receipts. So you don't have to enter anything manually, just upload the matching receipts!

Please note that you must be authorized to sign for the following transactions on the bank account in question.

And this is how it works...

For the following banks: CS, ZKB, UBS, BEKB, SGKB, AKB, TKB

Accounto has collective access to these banks, which significantly speeds up the EBICS connection process. To create an EBICS connection with these banks, proceed as follows:

  1. As the authorized signatory, write us an e-mail at [email protected] for which bank account and for which bank you would like to apply for the EBICS connection. We will then forward your e-mail to our contact person at the bank.

  2. Your bank will send you the completed EBICS application for signature. Please sign this application and send it back to your bank. The bank will then confirm receipt of the contract.

  3. We will take care of the remaining steps for you.

Example e-mail for the customer to the trustee or directly to us [email protected]

Add the IBAN number!

Specificity: Raiffeisen banks

Since the processes for setting up an EBICS connection vary independently depending on the branch and/or locality of a Raiffeisen bank, the steps required to set up an EBICS connection may also be twofold:

Dear Sir or Madam

I agree that Accounto AG is authorized to use EBICS to collect my account transactions on a daily basis using camt.053.

This is to apply to the following accounts:

IBAN: CH0000000

Thank you very much.

Banks that do not offer EBICS connection

More and more banks support an "Electronic Banking Internet Communication Standard" connection. However, there are some banks that do not support such a connection. For these banks, a camt.053 or MT940 file must be created and sent to us at regular intervals so that the bank transaction is visible in Accounto.

Here we regularly list the banks for which we are sure that they do not offer an EBICS connection:

  • Migros Bank

  • Sparkasse Schwyz

  • Nidwaldner Cantonal Bank

  • Banque du Léman

  • Glarner Cantonal Bank

  • Revolut Bank

  • Zürcher Landbank

  • WIR Bank

All other banks

1. Order access

In order for the transmission to take place via EBICS, access must be ordered from the respective banking institution.

2. Fill out and return the contract

Your bank will send you a contract in response to your order. You must complete it and return it to your customer advisor or the relevant office. The contract differs from bank to bank.

If we can assist you in filling out the contract documents, please send us an e-mail with the documents attached to [email protected]. We will be happy to help you.

3. Get EBICS access and forward it to Accounto

As soon as your bank has received the completed contract, the access will be sent to you. Please forward this to [email protected].

4. Accounto configures Konfipay

Accounto will now configure your EBICS access together with our partner Konfipay. As soon as we have prepared and set up everything, we will send you an initialization letter.

5. Initialization letter

After receiving the initialization letter, please sign and forward it to your bank.

6. Finalize bank connection

As soon as your bank has received the signed initialization letter, it will usually activate the EBICS access within 24 hours.

Please note:

The goal is for fully automated bank transactions to be imported and payment orders to be exported. This would eliminate the need for manual bank reconciliations.

Currently, the EBICS connection only works for the transactions module. The reason for this is that most of the larger banks do not have the possibility to "intercept" the payments before they are executed so that you can release them in e-banking. We are working on a solution to make this step possible. This means that currently the XML files still have to be generated and loaded into e-banking.

We thank you for your understanding.

What to do in the meantime?

Since the EBICS connection process can take some time, bank transactions must be imported to Accounto in the meantime using MT940 or camt.053 files. To do this, you need to send them to us at [email protected].

We have compiled detailed information on MT940/camt.053, how to generate and process these files, in a separate article.

You can find out more about the technical process of the EBICS connection here (article coming soon)
